Zimbabwe Ministerial Visit to NRIAM

Zimbabwe Ministerial Delegation visited NRIAM on November 22, 2016 for WFP –China south to south cooperation. The delegation is headed by Mr. Joseph Made, Minister of Zimbabwe Ministry of Agriculture, Mechanization and Irrigation Development, jointly with members from five Ministries such as the Ministry of Public Servant, Labor and Social Welfare, the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare, the Ministry of Rural Development and Conservation of Natural and Cultural Heritage, and the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, in addition to Zimbabwe Women’s University Council and the WFP office in Tianjin. The delegation was invited by China Ministry of Agriculture for learning Chinese agricultural and rural development achievement and experience.

 

In NRIAM, the delegation was received by General Director Chen Qiaomin with warm speech of welcome. Deputy general director Cao Guangqiao gave presentation on Cooperation and Development of China-Africa and Mr. Zhang made a presentation on technical project proposal for the cooperation between NRIAM and Zimbabwe Agricultural Engineering Institute (ZAEI). Zimbabwe guests expressed very much interested in Chinese agricultural mechanization development and introduced their urgent demand for Zimbabwe agricultural mechanization. Both sides deeply discussed the possible cooperation projects and ways. At present, Zimbabwe needs small sized tractor and attached implements for their numerous small holders.

 

Mr. Nyamangara, the director of farmer education and training department of Zimbabwe Agriculture Ministry, reviewed the relation between ZAEI and NRIAM through Mr. Zhang once worked in ZAEI and hope further cooperation between the two institutes could be achieved in more fields, whatever on joint research or training or academic exchange. He is thinking of a MOU with NRIAM after consulting his colleagues in Zimbabwe.
